Astrology isn't everything but it is science of social neuroscience

      Astrology identifies you with trajectories and extrapolation of light you see when you are born. You are the seed, where you are born is the soil and the season is around you. Just like how a plant is grown you grow in this world. Astrology uses advanced mathematics and physics to identify you and how you might have a basic character a sketch just like in tissue engineers and scientist call a scaffold. Remember a sketch is drawn to just get an idea and improvise. If you still feel your sketch is not ideal you can erase and redraw.

       Right from my Sussex life in my master's degree I started to think about this. I use to ask my friends, acquaintance, relations, family and people around me their date of birth, not just to wish them one their day but to see how compatible I am and in what way they fit into my circle. I realised this world follows western world of date, time, calender, latitude, longitude, work place, how you think, how you speak, how you see and hear in simple the modern man (highly a social animal), only when it comes to family life, relationship, traditional values and mother tongue and on your origin and what you are is seen . 

      Say for example I come from chennai which is in India, my ways of social life is copied from western world of modernisation and culture to survive, my social circle is formed from the words I speak, the way I behave, the way I see and perceive. it is a combination of my personal character and social nature.  I realised when it comes to social circle my sun sign works better in understanding why he or she is my friend (self analysis) and my moon sign works better my traditional and other intuitive hobbies, the most beautiful thing is my lagna (Moon horoscope) works perfect with my career and combination of lagna and moon sign shapes up you as a person. 

Conclusion:

         I think if you analyse yourself and call it a cognitive chart and on the basis of you character and nature you draw a network diagram of you and around you, you can understand better your life the flaws and strengths in it as a person. May be just like me it may even end up in people with compatible for that nature sun sign around you . This chart is specifically good in seeing how happy, where you went wrong, how to make yourself happy, things you love/hate and keeping it as a personal just like a diary or medical report.
